At Mt. Carmel House, our mission is simply to provide a loving and supportive environment for those in the final stages of life. We strive to ensure that each resident feels cared for as they approach the end of their earthly journey. Inspired by the selfless example of Saint Mother Teresa, our dedicated team of volunteers and staff offers comfort and compassion to both residents and their families.

Our two-bed residence is more than just a facility—it’s a home. Here, residents are treated as part of our extended family, receiving personalized care tailored to their needs. The peaceful surroundings and homelike atmosphere provide a tranquil retreat where residents can feel at ease.

Mt. Carmel House is committed to offering free-of-charge care that does not discriminate on any basis. Our services are supported by donations, grants, and the generosity of the local community. A full-time registered nurse and assistant ensure that residents receive the highest standard of care, while our volunteer team offers companionship and support.

Admission to Mt. Carmel House is based on need with preference given to those who cannot be cared for at home. The personal physician will determine suitability for comfort care. Referrals are made through area hospitals, doctors, families and local hospice agencies.

Financial support for the House comes from donations, memorials, bequests, grants and individuals. Funding is also provided through the Monroe County United Way and SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal). Mount Carmel House does not receive insurance reimbursement, county, state or federal aid.
